2017 MARVIN ARCHITECTS CHALLENGE BEST IN SHOW WINNER September 2017

FOR THE ANNUAL MARVIN ARCHITECTS CHALLENGE, trade professionals are asked to submit their most innovative designs, which feature Marvin® Windows and Doors. William M. Hanley and Heli T. Mesiniemi answered the call with their renovation of a 1960s shorefront camp in Maine. The owners had a deep sentimental attachment to the home and wanted to be sure that it was reconditioned properly, with a nod to the past yet with a modern-day feel. The home needed to be completely renovated so Hanley and Mesiniemi took the necessary measures to make sure they kept in the spirit of the aesthetic vision of the original architect. Marvin® Direct Glaze, Casement, and Awning windows were used to match the original field built glazing, which helped to maintain the character of the home. They also included an addition to the floorplan and turned it into a four-season home—one that is open, airy, and extremely inviting.

“ We strived to create a common thread between generations by looking to the past to guide the future.” – William M. Hanley
