Cadillac’s Driven by Design: Los Angeles November 2014

The final leg of Cadillac’s five-city Driven by Design architectural tour stopped in Los Angeles. Design enthusiasts were treated to private, expert-led tours of some of the area’s most exclusive residences and spaces. Tour sites included:

Hotel Bel-Air: The iconic hotel has always been known for its individuality so great care was taken to keep true to its aesthetic during a nearly two-year renovation by Alexandra Champalimaud and Rockwell Group. The familiar Spanish architecture splashed in Bel-Air pink is still present but a new generation of motifs were added, reflecting the glamorous eras of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. The keynote presentation was delivered by Zoltan E. Pali of Studio Pali Fekete Architects.

Sheats Goldstein Residence: Legendary architect John Lautner built the house in 1963 for Helen and Paul Sheats and their five children. The current owner, Jim Goldstein, bought the home in 1972 and worked with Lautner until the architect’s passing in 1994 on what they called “perfecting” the house.

North Faring Residence: The Holmby Hills house is framed on all sides by verdant vegetation and panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills. Designed by Quinn Architects London, the home features a 75-foot-long gallery that links the prmiary living spaces with a private guest suite.

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts: This new venue by Studio Pali Fekete Architects has transformed a Beverly Hills city block into a vibrant cultural destination in the heart of Los Angeles.
