Cadillac’s Driven by Design: New York City June 2015

In 2014, AD360 and Cadillac launched a success architectural tour of five cities titled Driven by Design. This year, we’ve added stops in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, and Houston. Here a recap of our first event in NYC. Louis Hedgecock from the New York office of HOK kicked it off with a keynote presentation at The New York Palace. Guests enjoyed the presentation and then headed out in the 2015 Cadillac CTS and/or 2015 Escalade to the next destination of great design.

Stops included:

The New York Palace: The luxury hotel on the corner of 50th and Madison recently completed a $140 million redesign, transforming the property’s premier rooms and suites in the Towers, a hotel-within-a-hotel. It is also home to the private residences located in the historic Villard Mansion, a space that features lavish 19th-century interiors.

53W53: High above the Museum of Modern Art, mere blocks from Central Park, in the epicenter of New York’s global business, arts, theater, and cultural districts, a modern, elegantly tapering tower is rising. Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Jean Nouvel, 53 West 53rd Street is like no other building in the world.

One Beacon Court: Interior designer Tara Benet created a luxury family home inside the prestigious landmarked César Pelli–designed One Beacon Court, in midtown Manhattan. In 1991, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) listed Pelli among the ten most influential living American architects. The sweeping views of New York City are what inspired the design. Sitting on the 47th floor, the home features strong clean lines and bold art to reflect the skyline.

The New York Palace Champagne Suite: The Champagne Suite, an ultra-luxurious multilevel penthouse located at the historic, world-renowned New York Palace, combines modern opulence with traditional elements. The 4,320-square-foot, double height triplex suite references one of the world’s leading and most iconic brands of Champagne.
