The AD Greenroom at the Oscars March 2014

The visionary behind some of the world’s most striking hotels, restaurants, and theater-set designs, David Rockwell was tapped to design this year’s AD Greenroom at the Oscars. The result was an amazing backstage retreat at the Dolby Theatre. Inspired by contemporary urban lofts, Rockwell and his team created an open, airy, light-filled environment, incorporating a wall of windows, an eclectic mix of new and vintage furnishings, and layered textured finishes….not to mention an outdoor garden that could take your breath away. Rockwell collaborated with Academy Award-winning actress to put a fresh spin on the design. Celebrating 86 years of Oscar, Sarandon selected digital images from the archives of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that were displayed on a mosaic of Samsung devices. Miss Sarandon also selected a series of photographs from her favorite screwball comedies from the 1930s and 1940s that were artfully framed and used to decorate the room.
